Rules / Config

  1. Played on a 9x9 board. Each player has 20 pieces including a King, Rook, Bishop, Gold and Silver Generals, Knights, Lances, and Pawns.
  2. Captured pieces switch sides and can be dropped back onto the board as your own piece on any future turn — this makes shogi uniquely dynamic.
  3. Most pieces can promote when entering the opponent's last three ranks. The game ends when a king is checkmated.
