Makruk
Thai Chess — ancient strategy game with unique pieces and promotion rules.
Rules / Config
- Makruk is played on an 8x8 board. The setup differs from Western chess — pawns start on the third rank and there are no bishops.
- The queen (Met) moves one square diagonally. The bishop (Khon) moves one square forward or diagonally. Pawns promote to Met upon reaching the sixth rank.
- Counting rules apply in the endgame: if one side has no pieces (only a king), the opponent must checkmate within a set number of moves or the game is drawn.
